NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (LAAN 54) – The New Orleans Privateers stayed in control Monday night, defeating East Texas A&M 83-73 at Lakefront Arena. The Privateers set the tone early, scoring the first five points and never trailing throughout the game.

New Orleans built a game-high 65-50 lead midway through the second half before East Texas A&M briefly closed the gap to 69-66. The Privateers responded with an eight-point stretch to secure the victory.

Coleton Benson led New Orleans with 17 points, going 10-for-11 from the free-throw line. The Privateers’ balanced attack kept the Lions at bay, and strong team defense during the final minutes prevented East Texas A&M from completing the comeback.

The win improves New Orleans’ record to 5-10 overall and 3-3 in Southland Conference play, giving the Privateers a much-needed boost in league competition.
